Guild Wars Stability A Joke!
Hello all. I have been trying to do the Fort Ranik mission for, let's see here, THREE times. Each time the same thing happens. My character stops responding to move commands and then after about 15 seconds, the game quits to the login screen with the message "Guild Wars was unable to complete the operation. Please try again in a few minutes (Err=7)."
The first time I got the farthest, past the trebuchet sub-mission and defeated nearly all the Charr before the game quit. The second time I had just finished rescuing Armin Saberlin's son. The third time (just 4 minutes ago) I hadn't even got past the cathedral gate.
Each attempt at this quest was spaced out by at least an hour.
WTF is going on? Is this happening to other missions and other people or is it just this quest?

I got that a lot in the first day for two, but I haven't had any errors or crashes since, except maybe a bit of lag earlier today in the 2nd Ascension Mission.

Is it the Henchies?
I am running through with Henchmen, healer, fighter, and mage. Does GW give priority server stability to human parties?

Got a wireless connection? I've seen a lot of people having trouble with this, and it's always caused by the fact that they have on of those 'on again/off again' connections.
I had to tweak my reciever around until I got a better signal, but now the game is nearly flawless for me. But besides the one buggy patch they put up in the first few days, the GW servers are extremely stable.

I honestly have only had that error you refer to happen once. It happened right after I started playing and I'm almost sure that I was the one who caused it because it only happened after I kept alt+tabbing back and forth to talk to someone.
I haven't had any major game crashes/glitches besides a few missions going funky. I did that Ranger Nente mission near the gate where he wants you to hunt down the charr patrol. Only thing was you have to follow him, and sometimes he decided he doesn't want to talk to you anymore and stops... then you're screwed.

Wireless
Well, I am on a wireless connection, but I have had steady connection rates.
BTW, I just started (and GW prematurely ended) my fourth attempt. If nothing else, I think I might start a new record for the number of times a mission is unsuccessfully attempted because of Error 7. Does anyone even have an authoratative understanding of what Error 7 actually is?

I get Err 7 on a fairly regular basis. Like Leventh said I believe it's on your end. I live out in the country and my connection has been known to hiccup. Playing another game it was happening way too often. I called the ISP and they fixed it up, well, fixed it up in that it occured less often hehe.

Yeah.
You know when your internet connection become unstable and your web browser pops up the "not found" error message? It's basically the same thing. All it means is that your computer and the GW server aren't communicating properly (for whatever reason) and you've timed out.
So, it could technically mean that there is a server issue. But if no one else is having it happen regularly, then the odds are that it's a client side problem.

I'm pretty sure that's a network problem. I've only ever gotten it once, and the simultaneous alarm from my network monitor box confirmed it was because my DSL connection had dropped and reset. Basically, I was off the Internet for about 10-15 seconds, but that was all it took -- bounced me out of Guild Wars with an error 7.

'puters
Sigh. Well, thanks for the replies. I am resigned to the strong possibility that it is a problem on my end, although there's not that much I can do about it. Maybe I'll have to settle for an offline game like Neverwinter Nights...
Thanks everyone.

If you contact your ISP, they might be able to schedule any IP switches at more appropriate times. You could also upgrade to a static IP address if you currently have a dynamic one. If the network router is a hardware one, it may help to setup a dedicated port range for the GW executable. If you have Zonealarm or any other software based firewall, turn it off before logging on.
Just some suggestions, since one can't really return this kind of game.

Does it only happen in this mission? or other places? (for example the pvp arena)
If it happens everywhere, random drops, you may want to look at your connection. (or drivers) Calling your isp may or may not have any effect. You could try, just for troubleshooting purposes signing up with a dialup isp to see if the problem replicates itself.
If it only happens on this mission, it could potentially be a corrupted install.

Verizon...Again...
It's my ISP. I replicated the problem on other missions as well. Thankfully, I did finish the Fort Ranik mission finally.
I don't know what would cause the blip. I have my laptop running GW off a wireless connection linked to a D-Link wireless router from which a Sony desktop is hard-wired. Could light internet activity such as AIM on the other machine break my connection enough to produce this problem?

I completed this quest 2 days ago with a human player and a healer henchman, the other human player died and left. Maybe I was lucky but I ddin't encounter any issues whatsoever. Then again, GW stability has been flawless for me. Hope you get your problem solved soon.

It's possible that something in the background could interfere, but I doubt IM programs will do that. Have you tried updating your router's firmware? Have you tried testing while connected directly to the modem or wireless link to see if it happens that way? Just a couple of things to try to figure out exactly where it's happening.
